She grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from the University of Richmond with a BA in English and Psychology with a minor is French. Catherine worked as a project manager in advertising for 15+ years and was the assistant director of the VCU Brandcenter for three years. After the birth of her first child Catherine worked at Derbyshire Nursery School for six years both in the classroom and as the Learning Lab lead teacher. Catherine and her husband, Jim, have two children - Jimmy and Elsa both of whom are in high school and one dog, Lucy. Catherine has served in a variety of volunteer positions from PTA President to soccer “team mom". She is currently the General Manager of Richmond Synchro, a synchronized skating club which has six teams. I grew up in the small town of Beaverdam, VA with my lovely sister, mom, & dad. I graduated from Patrick Henry High School & also attended Radford University for a semester. I have been a preschool teacher for about 5 years now & out of it have achieved my associates degree as well as CDA in Early Childhood Education from J Sargeant Reynolds. Since then, I have been attending VCU taking education & psychology courses, & working towards my Bachelors in Psychology. My true goal in life is to be able to conduct research, mostly on childhood behaviors. I’m hoping to get my masters or further in the future! I live right here in good old Richmond, VA & I love the city, but one day I hope to attend graduate school outside of here! I adore working with children, it is truly my passion. Judy and her husband of 36 years reside in Richmond, Virginia, after having retired from 20 years of life in the USMC . They have 3 grown daughters. Because of the many military moves, Judy’s found herself volunteering and working in the Reading Programs offered within her children’s school systems throughout the state of North Carolina and Virginia. In addition, Judy worked and volunteered in the Department of Defense (DOD )School System both as a substitute teacher and as a tutor, wherever her husband was stationed. Her last employment in the education field was a 4 yr stint as a PALS Tutor, with the County of Chesterfield Virginia, where she worked in small groups teaching phonemic awareness in grades K-2. Once her daughters left home, Judy worked full-time for a family law firm as a legal assistant for 11 yrs. However, the demands of the job and the desire to find a better work/life balance, found her wanting to scale back a bit, so she decided to return to what she loved ... working with small children.
